Fernley Dishwasher Repair

We have an unpleasant truth to reveal... We don't like dirty dishes.
We do a lot of different types of repairs.

As a parent, I believe the dishwasher is one of the most essential appliances in the house. If it were to break down, chaos would ensue in my household. We tend to overuse our dishwasher, often skipping the pre-washing step. Despite this, our KitchenAid, which is quite a durable machine, continues to function remarkably well.

If you’re like me, you want your dishwasher in perfect working order. If you’re experiencing any issues with your unit, Sargent’s is here to help ensure your dishes come out sparkling clean and ready for the next load.

Despite its compact size, your dishwasher contains numerous parts that can potentially fail. It has various safety mechanisms, moving components, and devices designed to prevent flooding or fires as it fills with water and uses a heater to dry dishes. Unfortunately, these safety controls can sometimes fail. The wash motor might malfunction, leaving dishes dirty; the water pump could fail, preventing proper drainage; or the heater could blow out, leaving dishes wet. Many critical components make up this vital machine.

To complicate matters, each manufacturer has unique designs. If you encounter a problem, hiring a reputable service technician who understands how to fix it is essential. Misdiagnosing appliances is a common issue in our industry, causing Americans to spend thousands on new products unnecessarily. When you need a repair, choose a technician with field experience and steer clear of those with consistent negative reviews. If a company frequently receives complaints about not returning calls or having long wait times for readily available parts, trust your instincts and consider another option.

Sargent’s has been in business since 1974, specializing in appliance repair. While things have changed over the years, we still hold on to our traditional values. Our owner, a service technician, is committed to providing outstanding customer service through our knowledgeable service team and office staff.

Stop Hand Washing Dishes.

Repairs.

Water Leaks.

Water leaks can result in costly repairs. Dishwashers can leak from various points, but the fill line is especially critical. A leak in this area can cause gallons of water to spill in just minutes. If you notice a leak, immediately turn off the hot water valve under your sink that supplies your dishwasher. Then, check the supply line or call Sargent's for assistance.

Not Draining Properly.

Not draining is a serious problem because it leaves dirty water standing inside your dishwasher. Surprisingly, this issue could be connected to your garbage disposal. If you’ve recently replaced the disposer, the plug where the dishwasher connects may not have been removed. If that’s not the cause, the drain pump, which is responsible for removing water from the dishwasher, could be the next culprit.

Not Starting or Acting Erratically.

In today’s dishwashers, electronic control boards handle nearly every function, from operating the motor to regulating the heater. However, steam and condensation can sometimes cause issues with these boards. If your dishwasher isn’t starting, appears to be dead, or the cycles aren’t functioning properly, the control board could be the culprit.

Not Washing Well or Poor Cleaning Performance.

Discovering dirty dishes after a wash cycle can be frustrating. No one wants to find dried food remnants on their utensils. If your dishes aren’t getting clean, there could be several reasons. Modern dishwashers have filters that require regular cleaning. If you’ve already cleaned the filter and still experience problems, it might be time to inspect the wash motor or the spinning wash arms.

Weird Noises or Not Washing Properly.

Does your dishwasher sound like it has rocks inside? There might be a hard object rattling around in your motor, which could lead to failure if not addressed. The wash motor is crucial for circulating water to clean your dishes. If it fails, it could be a major issue, especially after hosting a large gathering.

Not Drying Dishes.

If your dishes are still wet at the end of the cycle, there are a few things you should check. First, are you using a rinse aid? If not, you should start using one. Phosphates, which used to help dishes dry, are no longer present in dishwasher detergents, so an additive is needed to achieve the same drying effect. If you are already using a rinse aid, the issue might be with your heater. A faulty heater won't properly dry your dishes at the end of the cycle.
